IEP团队会议
Every student with an Individualized EducationProgram (IEP) 有IEP团队吗. This team creates, reviews, and revises 学生的 IEP. Each IEP小组 meets at least once a year to review their student’s IEP.
Each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) is built by their IEP小组. eachIEP团队至少包括:
- a 特殊教育教师 , knowledgeable in designing and providing specially designed instruction (SDI). This person is usually 学生的 special education case manager.
- a 通识教育教师 , knowledgeable about the general education curriculum for the age and peer group of the student.
- 学生的 家长/监护人 , knowledgeable about 学生的 story, strengths, and needs. The team relies on 学生的 家长/监护人 to be an expert on their student outside of the school setting and to provide a more complete view of the student.
- a 地区代表 (or administrative designee) makes sure 学生的 qualifying areas are addressed, and is knowledgeable about the IEP process and service delivery in the district. This person is usually a building administrator, such as a principal or vice principal. This person may also be a central office staff member.

IEP会议
The student is always the focus of an IEP meeting. A student’s IEP must be reviewed at an IEP meeting at least onceper year. However, IEP meetings can happen for many reasons:

The purpose of an IEP meeting is to discuss a student’s Individual Education Program (IEP). This is a summary of what to expect when attending an IEP meeting.
会议前
If the student has an existing IEP, it is important to meet之前 学生当前的IEP过期. Thestudent’s special education case manager will work with the IEP小组 members to arrange a meeting time, 邀请IEP团队的所有成员.
If 学生的 家长/监护人 does not respond to the invitation or refuses the proposed dates and times, iep小组可以在没有他们的情况下开会.

在会议开始时, all members of the IEP小组 should introduce themselves and explain their role onthe team. In certain cases, other relevant people may also attend the IEP meeting.
Parent/guardians may attend the IEP meeting by phone, if necessary. If the 家长/监护人 requires an interpreter tofully participate in the meeting, the case manager will arrange for those services.
A copy of procedural safeguards are offered to parents/guardians at each meeting.
IEP草案
The student’s special education case manager will begin to draft an IEP to review with the IEP小组 at the meeting.记住这只是草稿! The meeting is an opportunity for all team members to discuss the draft, 并做出必要的改变.
It is in the interest of everyone on the IEP小组 to develop a plan to meet 学生的 needs and provide thestudent with the best possible education and experience. 要做到这一点, it is important that IEP小组 members have theopportunity to share any information that may support that student’s success. 这包括父母/监护人,who are invited to share their student’s interests, 自己的长处, 他们如何与同伴互动, 以及他们如何应对挑战. The primary goal of the IEP meeting is to finalize a student’s IEP. There are many parts of an IEP, each with a specific purpose. The IEP小组 will review information about the student, consider any changes in service needs and/or delivery, and review and create goals for 学生的 IEP.

A student’s needs can shift as they get older and progress through their education, so it is important to review what is necessary and helpful to the student. In the IEP meeting, the team will review 学生的 accommodations, supports, and services. 这可以包括讨论:

- what specially designed instruction (SDI) the student will receive, and how it will be delivered
- alternative testing for state and district tests

It is important to set realistic goals that can be accurately measured. 对于已有IEP的学生, the teamwill assess if they have achieved the goals of their previous IEP. Then, the team will create or revise new,measurable goals for the student for the upcoming year. IEP goals are only created for the areas a student qualifiesfor.

IEP会议的目标是达成共识, but sometimes parents/guardians and educators have disagreements.
Everyone in attendance must sign the signature page. 重要的是要注意这一点 不表示同意 with decisions made, it is only a record of who attended the meeting. If disagreement exists, it is noted on the Prior Written Notice (PWN). The IEP小组 can reconvene if necessary (for example, 如果没有达成决定), but teams are encouraged to try to reach consensus.
